he NYC Department of Buildings enforces the City’s Building code and zoning resolution. They can issue violations to property owners whose properties are in non-compliance with building regulations. These violations are a problem to property owners because they can amount in fines and penalties while the DOB saves them in a database and become public records. This prevents the property owner from selling or refinancing the House or Building until they cure the violation and comply with building regulations. Once the violation is corrected a certificate of correction can be filed.
